She veered from her traditional content to warn viewers about the dangers of the plant Japanese Knotweed and potential health issues.
In the TikTok video from 2020, she shared how her dog was surprisingly burned by the plant during their walk.
The 15 second clip showed the TikTok user’s dog laying on the ground and appeared to be very lethargic and tired with a doggy pillow around their neck.
She explained in subtitles from the pup’s point of view that they were burned by Japanese knotweed while on a walk.
“Very sore and not feeling myself,” one read.
They closed out the video by stating that the pet has a “long road to recovery ahead but mummy believes in me.”
The highly invasive plant is growing in prominence and is now found in unsuspecting locations.
Experts at the Neath Port Talbot Council say Japanese knotweed isn’t poisonous, but can grow very quickly and be difficult to control in many gardens.
It has bamboo-like stems and clusters of small white flowers which can cause significant damage to your property and home infrastructure.
Many viewers shared their condolences for the unfortunate incident.
“Gorgeous cross-breed. Do wish you a speedy and full recovery,” one commented.
“You’re so cute. You don’t deserve that,” a fan praised.
“Get well soon xoxo,” another chimed in.
Even though experts say it isn’t poisonous to dogs, other dog owners have shared their own experiences of their precious pups being burned by the plant.
In March 2022, a four-year-old flat-coated retriever Winston developed painful sores on his nose and left eye after sniffing around a suspected giant hogweed plant while also on a walk.
According to the Woodland Trust, the sap of the plant can cause burns to dogs and humans, with blistering potentially lasting for years.
The reaction is very similar to the unfortunate side effects of the above encounter with Japanese knotweed.
