U.S. stocks close mixed after Fed's hawkish pause

NEW YORK, June 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve paused its tightening cycle but signaled more rate hikes are still on the table this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 232.79 points, or 0.68 percent, to 33,979.33. The S&P 500 added 3.58 points, or 0.08 percent, to 4,372.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 53.16 points, or 0.39 percent, to 13,626.48.
