The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Gujarat's Saurashtra and Kutch coasts as the very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy is feared to cause extensive damage to temporary housing structures and falling of trees and branches due to high-speed winds, high tides and heavy rainfall.
