The capsizing of a boat thought to be carrying hundreds of migrants off the coast of Greece is just the latest such tragedy as Europe faces a sharp rise in attempted entries across its borders. Frontex is the organisation charged with monitoring all the external borders of the EU and the Schengen area, with its agents surveilling 42,000 km of coastline and almost 9000 km of land borders. But recent years have also seen in face criticism from Human Rights groups.
