The CHP did not release the site of the checkpoint but said it would be in an unincorporated part of the county. It is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, to about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Legal nonprofit gets
$20K state bar grant
Legal Aid of Marin has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the State Bar of California.
The grant is part of a new program to give law school students paid summer fellowships to work for legal assistance providers. The bar association has allocated nearly $760,000 for 76 fellows at 35 organizations. In addition, the California ChangeLawyers foundation pledged $150,000 to fund 15 more fellows.
The funding for Legal Aid of Marin, a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, will cover two fellows.
“Interns will assist tenants with eviction defense and enforcement of their rights to live in habitable homes and will investigate and, if possible, file wage and employment discrimination claims and represent workers at hearings before the State Labor Commissioner,” the organization said in a summary filed with the state bar. “Additionally, law fellows will alternate between the housing, employment, estate planning, pro bono, Community Court, and policy programs, providing support to all programmatic staff, gaining exposure to each of our practice areas, and helping many clients along the way.”
