Research by scientists from India Meteorological Department (IMD) and leading universities in collaboration with research organisations have shown that Guwahati city has recorded an average temperature rise of above 1.5 degrees Celsius in the past 50 years, which is the threshold limit, as described in the CO Paris meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
