Danny Corono powers No. 1 Wake Forest past No. 8 Stanford

Danny Corona smacked a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to lift top-seeded Wake Forest to a 3-2 victory over No. 8 Stanford on Saturday in an opening-round game at the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Brock Wilken added a solo home run for the Demon Deacons (53-10), who will face the winner of the LSU-Tennessee game in the next round. The Tigers and Volunteers were scheduled to play later Saturday.
