Preliminary industry data showed that sales of petrol and diesel declined in the first half of June due to a drop in demand in the agricultural sector and decreased vehicular travel after the onset of monsoon season. Demand for diesel decreased 6.7 per cent to 3.43 million tonne from June 1–15 as compared to the same period a year ago.
