FOLCH STILL AT THE TOP AS SECOND ROUND IS SUSPENDED
Elia Folch holds her position at the top of the leaderboard on two-under par at the end of a suspended second day of the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge.
The 32-year-old, from Barcelona, held the overnight lead having shot an opening 69 (-3)and she picked up where she left off rolling in a birdie on the sixth.
However, the weather came into play at Panorama Golf resort with rain falling for much of the day and at 1:03pm local time, with Folch just finished, play was suspended due to storms.
The Spaniard had a roller-coaster of a second day, carding one birdie and two bogeys on the front nine and two birdies and a double bogey on the par-3 13th hole on the back nine.
Speaking about the round Folch said: “The first nine was great, but the back nine I struggled but I did manage to save lots of holes.
“It was a day of ups and downs.”
Folch is currently ranked 19th on the LET Access Series (LETAS) Order of Merit and has only had one top-10 finish on the tour so is excited to be currently in the lead heading into the final day.
“Tomorrow I’m going to keep doing the same thing and stay in my zone. I just want to put my game out there and see how it responds.”
“It’s a shame about the weather conditions today, but you can’t control it. When there are storms, the first thing is safety.
“LETAS has done a great job in ensuring that.”
One stroke behind Folch is fellow Spaniard and yesterday’s joint leader Marta Martin who sits on one-under par.
Speaking about her round the 26-year-old said: “Today the round was good, it was a long day as we had the three-hour delay.
“Holes one to 16 were pretty good; I played some solid golf and I hit good shots to the green but was not accurate with my putting.
“After the delay it was mentally hard to get back into a competitive mindset, but overall, I’m happy with the day.
“Tomorrow, I don’t want to change anything, I just want to stick to my gameplan and enjoy the opportunity of potentially being in the last group playing.”
Italy’s Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso sits in third one stroke behind her after a strong second round of one-under-par in challenging conditions.
Spain’s Clara Moyano Reigosa finished her round to sit in fourth whilst Switzerland’s Priscilla Schmid is sitting with her after eleven holes.
Six players sit in joint sixth position, with Austria’s Katharina Muehlbauer, France’s Chloe Salort, Sweden’s Emma Thorngren and Slovenia’s Nicola Polivchak still to finish their second-rounds tomorrow morning.
Play is expected to resume at 7:30am tomorrow morning with the final round starting around 10:15am.
