Man Utd ‘sound out’ Andre Onana over transfer but face blowing most of summer budget to meet Inter Milan’s fee
MANCHESTER UNITED have “sounded out” Andre Onana over a move to the club but they will have to blow most of their transfer budget to meet Inter Milan’s asking price.
The Red Devils are looking to get David De Gea’s future resolved by the end of this week.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is wanted be Man Utd[/caption]Erik ten Hag is waiting to discover whether his Spanish goalkeeper will agree terms on a vastly-reduced contract to stay at the club with his current £375,000-a-week deal expiring next week.
Meanwhile, Dean Henderson looks set to be offloaded by Ten Hag following last season’s loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
That means that all options remain open regarding a No 1 for next season.
Now the Daily Mail are claiming that United chiefs have held talks with some candidates for a back-up role should De Gea stay.
However, they add that the 32-year-old departing and buying a new first-choice keeper is also being considered.
And Cameroon star Onana, 27, would be a leading contender if they go down that route.
Ten Hag previously worked with the ace at Ajax and that he fits the mould of the goalie he wants to bring in to Old Trafford.
The Inter man, who helped them reach the Champions League final last season, is currently valued at £50m by Inter.

And that could have a huge impact on whether the Red Devils make a move along with De Gea’s situation.
United are still under the Glazer family ownership while the Qatari takeover over the club rumbles on.
However, the Mail had previously claimed that the club’s transfer budget for this summer window will be £100m.
And that would allegedly still be the case even if the Qataris took over as The Athletic state it is limited due to financial fair play rules.
That means the only way they can raise more additional funds is to offload players themselves.
And if not, then the Premier League giants would need to fork out around half of it for Onana, who is also wanted by Chelsea.
