My summer hack makes your home 10 times cooler without an air conditioner – just add a cheap item over your fan
AN INFLUENCER has shared an easy way to beat the heat when all you have is a fan.
The key to this trick is a small item you’ve probably seen inside picnic coolers or medical offices.
An influencer shared her hack for cooling down without an air conditioner[/caption] It requires a flexible ice blanket that needs to be frozen before hand[/caption]“I have a hack that is going to make your room 10 times cooler, and trust me, any little bit helps,” said Emily Magowan (@emilymagowan).
“You’re going buy a flexible ice blanket. They’re also called ice sheets.”
For this TikTok video, she used a Cyropak Flexible Ice Blanket, which can be bought in a three-pack on Amazon for $29.90.
The fashion and lifestyle creator instructed viewers to freeze one ice blanket sheet before the next step.
“You’re going to lie it over your fan. If you have a tall one, you can tape it around,” she added.
The influencer draped her ice blanket over a small tabletop fan and reached around to turn it on.
“The cold air is going to blast through you,” she said.
Commenters were grateful for the inexpensive hack, and shared other ways to use the flexible ice blanket.
“You can also put these in your bed for about 30 mins before you go to sleep,” wrote one person.
Another added: “These ice blankets are good if you cut in strips and put in a thin scarf and wrap around your neck to keep cool.”
One person was reminded of how many ice blankets they already have at their disposal.
“Thank you so much! I have a ton of these cause I’m a flight attendant and they use these for our meals.”
For those who only have a small ice pack, Magowan said it can be used but may not work as effectively because of the size and shape.
She also agreed with people who said to make sure it doesn’t melt near any plugs and cause electrocution.
