Rajendra Singh, popularly known as the 'Waterman of India' needs no introduction. Winner of several honours, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award (2001) and the Stockholm Water Prize (2015), for his continuous efforts towards water conservation in the country in the last four decades, Singh is currently in Jharkhand touring different districts. Talking to TOI's ASRP Mukesh on Sunday at the Circuit House, Singh expressed concern over the recurrence of drought and floods in Jharkhand, which he said, are a recent phenomenon because of unscientific planning and development. He said it's high time Jharkhand revisits its indigenous knowledge and wisdom of water and environment conservation before it is too late. Excerpts:
