RB Leipzig Didn’t Achieve Objectives In Fabio Carvalho Loan Swoop
Carvalho struggled to make an impact in his first season with the Reds, even though he started the campaign with two goals in his first five matches.
Despite having a shortage of midfield options in the recently-concluded Premier League season, Jurgen Klopp did not turn to Carvalho for the solution.
The versatile midfielder is now set to join RB Leipzig on a one-year loan deal to ensure first-team football in the German top flight.
According to German magazine Kicker, Leipzig wanted to secure the Portuguese midfielder on a two-year loan deal with an option to purchase.
The Reds however clearly rejected the German giants on both options, it has also been claimed.
Liverpool signed him during the last summer transfer window from Fulham on a £5m initial transfer fee, after a move broke down in last year January.
The 20-year-old midfielder played only 638 minutes of football with the Liverpool senior team and he will look to improve upon that with Leipzig in the upcoming season.
