Gardeners House
Gardeners House is a minimal residence located in Thônex, Switzerland, designed by Cabinet. The architectural design wraps around a charming water feature, culminating in a crescent-like expanse that opens up a refreshing space amidst the woodlands for local denizens to unwind. The design features a striking lantern perched on the roof, serving as a beacon for those meandering through the park. It symbolically illuminates the social nature of this leisure space, thereby enriching the sense of community within this setting. The aesthetic appeal lies in the unique juxtaposition of materials and architectural design strategies. On the outside, lightweight wooden cladding, cleverly manipulated into folded patterns, offers a refined and modern aesthetic. In stark contrast, the interior workshops boast a rustic and tactile charm, complete with brick walls – a deliberate subversion of traditional construction norms.
