Club 'expect' Manchester United to make €50m offer for 27yo this week - report
Inter Milan expect Manchester United to make a formal bid to sign goalkeeper Andre Onana this week, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 2).
The Red Devils are currently uncertain over the future of David de Gea, who has refused to accept a significant pay-cut on his weekly wages.
The Spaniard’s contract expires on June 30, and there is a possibility that he could leave as a free agent.
Onana has been identified as the potential replacement, and Inter ‘expect’ United to make an offer of €50 million plus add-ons for him this week.
Onana would be a perfect goalkeeper for Man Utd
The Cameroonian star is one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers in world football. He had a wonderful debut season at Inter with 20 clean sheets across all competitions.
Aside from his shut-outs, Onana completed an impressive 78 per cent of his passes with seven long balls per game. He also caught the eye with his ability to come off his line regularly.
Onana would be a perfect goalkeeper for United. He is a modern shot-stopper, who is comfortable with his distribution. He does not shy away from getting out of his box.
United boss Erik ten Hag knows Onana well after managing him for four-and-a-half seasons at Ajax. There are no surprises that he has given the green light for a move.
Similar to Lisandro Martinez and Antony last term, Onana may not require much time to adapt as he is well accustomed to the playing style under the Dutch tactician.
As things stand, Ten Hag prefers to keep De Gea over spending big on a new goalkeeper, but the scenario could change if the Spaniard continues his stand-off.
