Man in his 30s stabbed to death on tram in Nottingham
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a male in his 30s was fatally stabbed aboard a tram.
Nottinghamshire Police said officers arrived at Highbury Vale tram stop shortly after 11.10am on Monday, where the victim died at the scene.
One man was arrested and remains in police custody.
Chief Constable Kate Meynell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ‘What happened at Highbury Vale this morning is tragic and has resulted in the death of a man in his 30s.
‘We know there were other passengers on board at the time and understand how frightening this must have been for anyone who saw what happened.
‘Our officers were at the scene quickly and detained a suspect. He remains in police custody.
‘This was an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened this morning.’
NET Tram tweeted at around 11:35: ‘Due to a Police incident we currently have no service between Hucknall and Bulwell. NCT buses the yellow line and EMR trains are accepting our tickets and passes for travel.
‘Please keep checking for travel updates.’
NET Tram later added: ‘Due to an emergency incident at Highbury Vale, we have no service between Wilkinson Street and Bulwell and also Phoenix Park. NCT Yellow buses and EMR trains are accepting tram tickets between Nottingham and Hucknall.’
