Charlie Fox extends stay with Queen’s Park

0

The worst kept secret in Queen’s Park’s long history can be confirmed as being true today with the fantastic news that Charlie Fox has signed a new contract with the club for the next two years.

The former Queens Park Rangers, Wycombe Wanderers, Basingstoke Town, Richmond Borough, Walton Casuals and Bromley centre-back joined the Spiders two years ago and has played in nearly 70 games during that time and scored six times with most of his goals being in the memorable category.

The 24-year-old was courted by a number of clubs at the end of last season however he contacted Director of Football Marijn Beuker recently and confirmed that staying with Queen’s was the right move for him.

Charlie trained with the first team squad last week and the news of his re-signing was ‘leaked’ to the crowd at Saturday’s Test Event with the defender saying: “I am delighted to re-sign for Queen’s Park, a club that have given me so much over the past two seasons. After Marijn outlined his ideas for the squad re-build, the new recruits and the exciting changes happening behind the scenes it was an easy decision to make.

“Everybody at the club has given me a warm welcome back and I look forward to getting started on the grass. Despite the disappointing end to last season, the players and I are even hungrier to compete once again.

“It is clear that the new head coach is passionate about our playing style, and in the short time I’ve been back I have witnessed huge progress towards achieving a total-football approach.”

Director of Football Beuker is delighted that Fox has committed himself for longer as he explained: “We are very happy to have re-signed Charlie Fox. There was a lot of interest in him, but the fact he is staying shows he much he cares about our philosophy.

“Charlie proved last season that with his strength and defensive skills ensure that he is a solid part of the defensive block. More importantly we believe he has the ability to build the game up properly, keep the ball on the deck and find ways to deliver balls to our key-zones in attack.

“That’s what the modern game of football requires and we are happy to continue with Charlie in our plans for this.”
