Local media said the London man became “unresponsive” on a flight on Thursday, June 22.

The plane was subsequently grounded following the airline’s safety procedures at VC Bird International Airport on the Caribbean island.

Upon landing in Antigua, the passenger was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated in the emergency room.

However, he later died at around 6.30pm after revival attempts failed.

British Airways confirmed to The Sun Online there was a “medical emergency”.

Cops are investigating the sudden death but do not suspect foul play.

No marks of violence to the Brit’s body were found after initial reports, investigators said.

His mum, 65, later told police he had been diagnosed with hypotension, muscular dystrophy, and ulcerative colitis.

He had been hospitalised many times as a result of his medical condition, it was reported.

Prior to the incident, cops said the duo had been in St Kitts and Nevis where the young man fell ill and was hospitalised.

He reportedly spent five days in intensive care and was further diagnosed with sepsis and blood poisoning.

According to the mum, her son had become dehydrated and was losing weight rapidly after discharging himself from hospital.

Antigua police said: “We are investigating this incident like we investigate all incidents of this nature.

“However, foul play is not suspected at this stage and we will be working with the family and will be cooperating with them fully.

“We offer our condolences to the mother and the rest of the family.

“Imagine coming to our beautiful island and to end up like this. It is so sad. Our sympathy is with the family.”

The Sun Online has contacted the Foreign Office for comment.
