I’m a DIY whizz & I made a swanky bin storage using scraps & cheap Wilko buys but everyone is saying the same thing
A DIY fan has revealed that she made a swanky bin storage on a budget, using scraps and cheap buys from the high street.
The garden enthusiast and DIY fan explained that she used leftover wooden pallets and cheap buys from Wilko to give her bin space a stylish look.
Jenny, who posts on TikTok under the username @jenshomejournal took to the video sharing platform to proudly show off the process of creating her bin storage.
She said: “Firstly I pulled the back off one of the pallets, then cut the other two to remove the sides and back as well.
“I wanted to keep the front structure as much as possible, then continued on to sanding everything down.
“Using wood screws and corner braces, I then attached the front to the side of the shed, this allowed me to attach the next bit of wood to the side of the shed, which would act as a support structure for the top.
“The top was the two pallets that I cut down earlier, which meant they were already secured through the middle.
“After screwing the top into the back, it was time to measure up and cut off the excess wood.
“Finally, I attached a small piece of wood underneath and the last leg, to support the front of the structure.
“Then I painted it in Costal Cliff by Wilko and here’s the result.”
Describing her bin storage, she explained: “She’s so pretty.”
Jenny’s DIY clip has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 44,500 views in just two days.
It has 902 likes, 30 comments, 285 saves and 92 shares.
Social media users were impressed with Jenny’s creation and were eager to praise her skills in the comments.
One person said: “Looks fab.”
Another added: “Love it!”
A third commented: “Brilliant job Jenny.”
At the same time, one user asked: “Where do you learn this?!?” to which Jenny confirmed “Self taught, Google and YouTube for anything I’m unsure of.”
However, many other social media users pointed out that because of the top of the bin storage, Jenny would need to take the bin out every time she wants to put rubbish in it.
One user claimed: “Have to drag the bin out every time you put something in it….. time for version 2” to which Jenny explained “It’s not hard to pull it out for 2 seconds to put the rubbish in then push it back though, works for us.”
Meanwhile, another posted: “But now you have to pull the bin out every time to put something in it” to which Jenny said “We don’t mind that, it only takes a second.”
