Alex Graham dead at 20: British ice hockey star dies as club call for privacy after ‘tragic situation’
BRITISH ice hockey star Alex Graham has passed away aged 20.
The youngster played for the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League.
He also represented Great Britain at both Under-18 and Under-20 level.
Graham played 81 times for the Steelers after making his debut as a teenager back in 2019.
The forward had only recently signed his first professional deal.
His cause of death is unknown but not thought to be suspicious.
The club revealed the heartbreaking news on their website.
A statement read: “The Steelers are devastated to advise that Alex Graham sadly passed away this weekend.
“Everyone at the club is heartbroken by the news and wish to pass on our thoughts and condolences to Alex’s family, friends and team-mates.
“It would be appreciated if Alex’s family could be provided time and space to take in the enormity of this tragic situation in the days ahead.
“He was regarded as an outstanding talent about to make his mark on the professional game.
“The club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Tributes flooded in from fans, one said: “Hearts and thoughts with you all.”
Another added: “No words for this, tragic. Condolences to his family and those who knew him best.”
