Journalist claims Spurs could offload more than 10 players this summer
Charlie Eccleshare has revealed in his recent column in The Athletic that Tottenham Hotspur could get rid of more than 10 senior players this summer.
It was reported soon after Ange Postecoglou’s appointment that one of the Australian’s priorities this summer would be to oversee a mass clear-out given the bloated nature of Tottenham’s squad (The Telegraph).
This has now been backed up by Eccleshare, who claims that although the new Spurs head coach is prepared to give all the players a clean slate, he is now getting himself up to speed with the strengths and weaknesses of the squad he is inheriting.
The journalist explains that Tottenham currently have 28 senior players on their books but with no European football, Postecoglou would probably want a squad of 20 or fewer.
Spurs could cut squad down by more than ten players
Eccleshare asserts that with plenty of new signings expected to arrive through the door, the Lilywhites would want to get rid of 10 or more players.
He states that Hugo Lloris, Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, and Ivan Perisic are expected to be offloaded while Alfie Devine is set to be loaned out.

The one big issue for Spurs and the other Premier League clubs with bloated squads, is the fact that the football economy has still not completely recovered from Covid.
As a result, clubs in Spain, Italy and France, who would normally be interested in the deadwood from the likes of Tottenham, are not in a position to pay reasonable transfer fees.
As a result, Spurs would either have to find buyers from within the Premier League for the aforementioned players or loan some of them out.
