George Santos defiant after Kevin McCarthy says 'another Republican' will soon hold his seat
Indicted Rep. George Santos (R-NY) on Monday struck a defiant tone after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that the scandal-plagued congressman shouldn't be running for reelection at all.
The drama began during an interview that McCarthy gave to "Fox & Friends" in which host Brian Kilmeade asked if he was on board with Santos' 2024 reelection bid.
"No, I am not," McCarthy said bluntly. "He shouldn't run. We will keep that seat with another Republican."
Shortly after the interview, Santos took to Twitter to emphasize that he doesn't plan on going anywhere, regardless of what the leader of his own party says.

"I plan on continuing to serve the people of NY3," Santos said. "Providing excellent constituent services to the people of NY03 and proposing common sense conservative legislation for the betterment of our nation. Speaker McCarthy’s comments do not change my intention of running."
Santos last month got slapped with 13 different criminal charges, including multiple counts of wire fraud and money laundering.
Santos came under fire shortly after being elected last year when multiple reports revealed that he fabricated entire parts of his life story, including his academic career, his work history, and even his claims of Jewish heritage.
