'It's not clear' whether Marjorie Taylor Greene has been 'ejected' after Freedom Caucus vote: report

0

Late last week, reports started bubbling up that hardline members of the House Freedom Caucus were pushing to eject Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), whom they believed had grown too cozy with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Politico reports that members of the group held a vote on Friday -- but "it's not yet clear" whether they have decided to "eject" her as a member.

That said, sources who spoke with Politico said that there was "a consensus against her" within the group and that the vote will at the very least show "continued strong anti-Greene sentiment."

Despite being ideologically in synch with the Freedom Caucus, Greene has nonetheless gotten in regular feuds with several of its members, all of which came to a head last week when she called Rep. Lauren Boebert a "little b*tch" on the House floor.

The report notes that Greene departing the Freedom Caucus would likely lead to yet more chaos within the House Republican conference.

"Should Greene ultimately exit the Freedom Caucus, it is likely to trigger a greater feud within the House GOP as conservatives wrestle over how closely to work with their own party leaders," the publication writes. "McCarthy’s team is still struggling to quell an ongoing rebellion propelled by Freedom Caucus members."
