Mum’s urgent warning over summer must-have which could seriously injure your kids
TERRIFIED parents have warned that kids risk cutting their fingers off on dodgy fans available online.
Gaps in the guards of some air coolers are said to be wide enough for youngsters to stick their digits through – only to be savaged by spinning blades.

He told Israel Nation News: “This fan has stainless-steel blades and the product insert says that the mesh is especially dense for ‘maximum safety’.
“My son had to be taken to hospital and underwent an operation to reattach his finger.”
Reviews for similar products online suggest a range of fan brands suffer the same fault – a concern as Brits snap up fans as temperatures rise.
One, which has a guard made of wire rings instead of mesh, left parents “very disappointed”.
One parent blasted: “Yes, my toddlers fingers can touch the blades. Very disappointed.”
While another fumed: “I just tried to stick my pinky in, which went up to the middle finger joint and I was able to reach the blade edge.
“The closest distance from grill to blade is 1.5 inches, and tiny fingers certainly would get in there.”
While another fumed: “Even though toddlers fingers are short they’re definitely thin enough to fit through the grill screen.”
It comes as mum described the shocking moment a ceiling fan blade snapped off and hurtled through the air above her two kids.
The plastic part smashed into the wall and onto the dining table in horrified Joey Tan’s living room in Singapore.
It follows similar warnings from parents over cheap summer “must-haves” that could prove dangerous.
Justine Church, who lives in Strood, Kent, bought a fly curtain on Amazon and put it up at her back door to keep the flies out.
Her five-year-old son Miles though got the curtain tangled up around his neck when he went to walk through it on Thursday.
It is not clear what brand of fly curtain Justine bought from the online retailer but they can be purchased for just £10.
