You’ve probably been pronouncing a popular biscuit name wrong your entire life…how you’re really meant to say it

WE all love a tasty biscuit, but it turns out loads of us have been pronouncing the name of one popular brand totally wrong.

Nice biscuits are a favourite for many foodies thanks to their distinct crumbly texture and sugary coating.

You might think the biscuits get their name because of their pleasing taste which is, well, nice.

But it turns out they should actually be pronounced like the city in France, which sounds more like ‘niece’.

The pronunciation debate has been a hot topic for snack lovers for years, but it was finally settled recently on Twitter.

After one man decided to rank his personal favourite snacks, Arnott’s, who manufacture Nice biscuits in Australia chimed in to reveal the correct way to say it.

They explained: “Nice biscuits were named after the city in the South of France and pronounced the same as that city.

“They have been part of the Arnott’s range since 1922.”

After revealing the truth on social media, other Twitter users had mixed reactions to the news.

One replied: “I’m so happy to finally know the answer to this. Never too old to learn something new!!”

And a second said: ” “It can be confusing because Nice biscuits are also very nice.”

Meanwhile, another wrote: “It’s always been ‘neece’ as far back as when I first bought them in the 70s. I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it rhyming with ice.”

But not everyone cared about the true pronunciation and one slammed: “Does it really matter since I was a small child in UK we have had the debate on Nice as in Lovely or Nice as in the town in France?

“It’s just the same as Scones, baths, paths etc etc. Does it really matter?”

And someone else joked: “I pronounce it ‘noice’ when I’m referring to the biscuit. And also when referring to the city. Just for the annoyance factor.”
