EastEnders legend joins Emmerdale in shock recasting – tearing beloved family apart
AN EASTENDERS legend has joined Emmerdale in a shock recasting – as she tears a beloved family apart.
Actress Lin Blakley has signed up to star in the ITV1 soap after leaving EastEnders in 2016.
The 75-year-old will play the role of Georgia Sharma as Emmerdale bosses recast the character.
Trudie Goodwin originally portrayed the mother-of-three who went on a cruise in 2015 and never returned.
When she arrives back in the Dales, Georgia will ruffle feathers in the build up to her son Jai’s wedding to Laurel when she drops her harsh opinions.
Speaking about joining Emmerdale, Lin said: “How lucky am I to play such a strong character as Georgia.
“So different from roles I’ve played of late. I have enjoyed every single minute. Gorgeous cast and crew!! And the gorgeous Dales. Thank you Emmerdale.”
Producer Kate Brook said she was “thrilled” to have Lin onboard and teased how Georgia’s will have a “secret for the Sharmas that could potentially blow their world apart”.
Georgia’s return comes on the heels of Jai discovering Rishi Sharma is not his biological father.
Recent scenes saw the businessman, played by Chris Bisson, demand answers from Rishi who was reluctant to give them.
However, he later explained to Jai that his mum had a one-night stand with a mystery man shortly before they met.
Lin played the role of florist Pam in EastEnders for two years, being the wife of undertaker Paul Coker (Johnny Labey).
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
