I bought huge mansion with £9.7m lottery jackpot & pimped it out with £400k luxury features… but it ended in disaster

A TEEN who scooped a £9.7million jackpot and branded himself the “King of Chavs” blew it all on prostitutes, cocaine and booze.

Michael Carroll bought a mansion in Norfolk with the life-changing windfall – which soon became a drug-fuelled, orgy party house.

The 19-year-old was slapped with countless ASBOs, 30 court appearances, three stints in prison for car theft, drugs and affray.

Unsurprisingly, he was also once barred from every pub where he lived.

His partying lifestyle was so obnoxious that a special hotline was set up by the council for his neighbours to report noise complaints.

A friend once told the Daily Mail: “He was living like a wild animal. There was evidence of drink and drugs in every room.

“He used to hold wild drugs and sex parties and the house got ruined.

“There was no heating, so people set fire to doors to keep warm.”

His wife, Sandra Aiken, had enough of his party lifestyle and eventually walked out over his “Roman-style orgies”.

Those in the local community were not too impressed either, after Mikey became infamous for lobbing Big Macs and nuggets at pedestrians from his motors.

The collection featured a Mercedes van emblazoned with “King of Chavs”, in which he would often arrive in at court.

The “Lotto Lout” once boasted that he had bedded 4,000 women on his travels to luxury destinations such as Jamaica, Barbados and Puerto Banus.

But, within 10 years, the eye-watering fortune had dried up and his life began to crumble around him.

LOST IT ALL

The former multi-millionaire was forced to go on the dole for six months and ended up moving to Scotland to work as a coalman seven days a week.

He was forced to rent a £500-a-month, two-bed house and also had to pick up jobs at a biscuit factory and slaughterhouse to make ends meet.

The infamous five-bedroom party pad in Norfolk was left in a state of ruin after Michael left the drug-fuelled orgy lifestyle behind.

He fleed The Grange after his electricity and gas supplies were cut off because of unpaid bills.

Thieves then stole anything of value, Michael’s friend explained: “They even dragged the Jacuzzi through a wall using a rope and a van.

“There’s so much damage that Mikey thought he’d never sell it.’

Despite buying the property for £340,000 and adding another £400,000, swimming pool and Jacuzzi, the house was put on the market for a meagre £142,000 due to its derelict state.

Michael could have walked away with £700,000 if he had taken care of the mansion.

He only saw £63,000 after paying legal fees, and ex-wife Sandra pocketing half.

Nevertheless, Michael said: “I’m glad the house has been sold – it holds bad memories.”

FRESH START

Although Michael frittered his £10million fortune, lost his wife, and ended up in prison, he said he has no regrets.

“I don’t look back with any regrets that’s for sure. It was 10 years of fun for a pound, you can’t go wrong with that”, he said.

“I wouldn’t want to turn the clock back. But I live a good, free lifestyle now and I’m happier because I’ve got my life back.”

In 2020 Mikey said: “I used to just walk into an airport and ask to buy a ticket on the next plane that had an empty seat. I’d be away there and then.

“Now I pay a deposit and then settle up every month or so until it’s paid off. It’s what I had to do before I won the lottery. It’s no bother.”

Mikey branded money “the root of all evil”, but added: “If I hadn’t spent it I wouldn’t be where I am today . I’d probably be dead to be honest with you. This is much, much better.”

And the lottery winner has also been lucky in love once again.

The former party lad remarried his ex-wife more than a decade after she left him for romping with prostitutes.

She now appears to have forgiven Carroll, 40, and the pair have tied the knot for a second time.

The couple wed in a small ceremony and are now understood to be living a quiet life together.

A friend said: “Mickey’s calmed down a lot and has been living quite a nice wee life and working hard.

“Him and Sandra buried the hatchet and got back together and it has all worked out well for them.

“It happened very quickly in the last few months but they fell right back in love and are really happy together now. What’s in the past has been forgotten about.”

The mum, who was handed £1.4million from his winnings, claimed he cheated on her with prostitutes and “surrounded himself with hangers on”.

Sandra said in 2009: “Mickey thought he was a big shot, better than everyone because he had money, and he surrounded himself with hangers-on.

“I left because he was frittering away £10million on drink and drug binges and was cheating on me with prostitutes.”
