My passport photo was rejected for a bizarre reason – so I went to the hairdresser so I didn’t look like a criminal
A WOMAN has revealed she took it as a sign when her passport application was rejected because of her choice of photo.
So the mum decided to go and get a full-blown makeover and booked herself into the hairdressers so she wouldn’t “look like a criminal” in the replacement snap.
Joey Djia, who recently welcomed twin daughters, explained she had applied for a new passport and sent in a photo she had taken of herself.
However, she was shocked to discover that it had been rejected on the grounds that they thought she’d edited the picture – something she denied.
But Joey said it made her rethink her choice, and she headed to the hair salon so she could get glammed up before taking another shot.
In a video shared to her social media account @joeydjia, the parent explained she had sent in a photo of herself with her brunette hair scraped back and a neutral expression.
But then she said: “My new passport photo got rejected…
“So I had to take another one.
“So I took it as a chance to not look like a criminal like I usually do and took replacement photo after my hair appointment.”
The business owner and recording artist then showed her before and after hair transformation, as she filmed herself walking into the salon.
And she told her 48.6k followers how it went from “bird’s nest” to fabulous.
Alongside footage of her hair being washed, cut and styled in curls, she wrote: “My hair lives in an oily yet terribly dry and dead bird’s nest, so we chopped off the dead ends.”
She then unveiled her new passport photo – with the same facial expression, but this time with her newly trimmed, glossy looks behind her shoulders.
And she said her new look couldn’t have been better timed as it also coincided with a special occasion.
Joey revealed: “I’m loving my fresh hair.
“I have a photo shoot tomorrow with my girls for their 6 month shoot and took advantage for a new passport photo.”
However, she once again joked about her previous passport photo, insinuating that it looked like a “mug shot”.
She quipped: “I kind of like the criminal look though.”
But her followers assured her that both her before and after photos were lovely.
One wrote: “I’m shocked that it got rejected?! That photo is perfect.” As a second said: “Your face is so perfectly symmetrical – the biggest flex.”
