Haley says GOP voters not talking about Hunter Biden on campaign trail
Republican 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley said voters on the campaign trail are not talking about Hunter Biden’s legal issues in an interview Friday on Fox News after Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the appointment of a new special counsel.
“I will tell you that when we go to town halls in South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Iowa, no one is talking about Trump's legal issues. No one's talking about Biden's legal issues,” Haley said in an interview on Fox News, noting that she hears more about food and gas prices, education, the southern border, and the looming threat of China.
“I don't hear anything about the Hunter Biden cases or the Trump cases. I do hear a lot about the distrust in federal government, the distrust in our intelligence agencies, the distrust in the Department of Justice, and the fact that the federal government's just way too big,” Haley continued. “That's the focus that we have to do. All this corruption and chaos – even when you look at Congress – what has Congress done for us lately? Nothing.”
Haley has joined House Republicans in criticizing the Department of Justice and FBI.
“I don't trust it. I don't think the American people trust it. I don't think that the American people trust the Department of Justice,” Haley said when first asked in the interview for her response to the new special counsel.
“I think that this was meant to be a distraction. It's not a distraction. I think the Bidens are on a sinking ship. And I think this is our opportunity to make sure not only that we get a new president in the White House, but that we go, and we clean house in the Department of Justice while we're at it,” she continued.
Republicans have criticized the appointment of David Weiss as special counsel. Weiss previously had led the prosecution of Biden as a federal prosecutor in Delaware.
Haley called for the House GOP probes to continue, saying, “the House needs to keep their foot on the gas. Keep this investigation going. Don't let up.”
