Public library holds
bookmark contest
The Corte Madera library is holding a bookmark design contest for youths age 5-18.
All artwork must be original. There is no limit to the number of entries.
Submissions are due to the library at 707 Meadowsweet Drive by Sept. 23. Winning bookmarks will be selected for printing and will be included in a youth art show.

Chamber hosts
Maui fundraiser
The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a fundraiser for Maui fire victims on Thursday.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Boomerang Lounge, 256 Shoreline Highway in Tam Valley. Music by Musical Feast and Crackerjack DJs is planned.
The cost is $20 for admission, plus a drink and a meal featuring paella; or $10 cover charge.
All proceeds will be donated to the Maui Food Bank.

Local service club
to hold barbecue
Rotary Club of Ignacio will hold a fundraiser on Sept. 23.
“Burger, Brews, and Comedy” will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Jonas Center at the Indian Valley Campus of the College of Marin.
Performing will be local comedians, including Novato resident Gina Stahl-Haven, who won second place at the 2019 San Francisco International Comedy.
The cost is $100 per person; $110 after Sept. 10.

SAN RAFAEL
Meeting planned
on wildfire work
A meeting on wildfire work will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Fire officials will talk about the San Rafael-San Anselmo Fuel Reduction Zone project. The mulityear effort aims to thin invasive eucalyptus trees to cut wildfire risk and intensity in strategic locations.
