Nashville SC fans boldly chant 'We want Messi!' ahead of Inter Miami match

The MLS world has been overtaken with Messi Fever, but the fans in Nashville don’t seem all that concerned.

With Nashville SC taking down Monterrey 2-0 in the League Cup semifinal game, the team has set itself up for a Saturday home showdown with red-hot Lionel Messi and Inter Miami.

Since Messi made the move to the MLS this summer, Inter Miami has turned into a goal-scoring machine and one of the most ferocious teams on American pitch.

Oddsmakers at FanDuel peg Inter Miami as -105 favorites to take Saturday’s match, but Nashville SC fans do not seem all that concerned about Messi’s arrival at GEODIS Park.

Chants of “We want Messi!” broke out after the victory, signaling that Music City has no qualms about hosting one of the best soccer players of all time.

Well, you have to admire the confidence. Much like Atlanta United before it, Nashville SC has sparked a massive following and good success for a Southern MLS team.

Reigning MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar, star defender Walker Zimmerman and recent designated player signee Sam Surridge give Nashville a formidable trio to combat Messi and Inter Miami, and it appears as if the crowd won’t be phased by Saturday’s match, either.
