Old House, New Home star George Clarke slammed by fans for showing off second home in Ibiza
OLD House, New Home star George Clarke has been slammed by fans as she showed off his second home.
The Channel 4 presenter and architect, 49, features on the broadcaster every week with his renovation series.
It sees ordinary members of the public snap up tired and run-down properties often with a big history.
George brings his knowledge and wisdom to the show by designing the property owner’s perfect house to suit their budget.
However, away from the show, it seems George’s own abode has landed him in hot water.
The presenter was slammed by fans as he gave a glimpse at his second home in Ibiza.
He was snapped leaning against one of his huge arched windows as he smiled for the camera.
George told his 220,000 followers how he had recently had the glass in all of his windows replaced “to the highest specification” to make his property more ecological.
He told: “Every single external window and door has been replaced to the highest specification.
“This is all part of my grand plan that is making the house as ecological as possible. Air source heat pump and solar panels are going in next.”
Fans flooded his comments section as they told the presenter how some people can barely afford one house.
One fan said: “Owning a second home is the most ecologically damaging thing the middle classes can do.”
A second wrote: “Looks great of course but may be a little flash when everyone is struggling to keep a roof over their head.”
“Nice if you’ve got the money for it,” said a third.
However, one fan came to George’s defence who said he “should be congratulated on his achievement in life”.
George thanked his fan for their kind words, saying: “The negativity sometimes is off-the-scale.
“I love my home in ibiza and it gives so much happiness and pleasure to my kids, my family and my best friends…and you can’t put a value on that! (many from the “pit village” lol) … I do really appreciate this.”
