Tomato prices have fallen to Rs50-70 per kg due to the arrival of new crops in retail markets. This follows a period in which prices soared to Rs250 per kg. The trend seems set to continue, with Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh announcing that the government will continue to sell tomatoes at a discounted rate until prices revert to normal levels.
