Suspect in Waterbury shooting extradited to CT on murder, firearm charges
The suspect in a fatal Waterbury shooting in June was extradited to Connecticut on Friday.
Christopher Eason, 36 of Virginia, was held on $10 million bond over the weekend and was expected to be arraigned Monday in Waterbury Superior Court on charges of murder, criminal possession of a pistol, criminal use of a weapon, illegal sale or transfer of a pistol or revolver, weapons in a motor vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
The charges stem from the June 4 fatal shooting of 26-year-old Akeem Campbell.
Officers were called to the area of North Main Street and Division Street on the report of shots fired at about 5 a.m. on June 4. They found an abandoned vehicle and evidence of a shooting.
Officers later discovered that Campbell had suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he died.
Eason was arrested on Aug. 8 by authorities in Virginia and has been held in custody since.
