A massive Blackhawk estate commissioned by Ken Behring, the founder of the Blackhawk Country Club and the former owner of the Seattle Seahawks, is for sale for $24.998 million.
The Behring Estate, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Falling Water” home in Pennsylvania, showcases soaring Brazilian teak ceilings, quartz floors and an indoor waterfall.
All told, there are seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms on the 26,627-square-foot property. The master suite features a retractable roof over a hot tub as well as a private kitchen.
The home also touts a ballroom, caterer’s kitchen, wine cellar, media rooms and an elevator.
Outdoors the landscaping was created by Kimio Kimura, a master gardener who designed home gardens for filmmaker George Lucas. There are multi-level koi ponds, a pool that resembles a lagoon and a waterfall.
Joujou Chawla with Compass is the listing agent.
Behring, a real estate developer, formed the Blackhawk Development Corporation in the late 1970s to develop the former ranch property into the prime residential area it is today. About 2,400 homes were built, and 2,000 acres were dedicated to open space as part of the Mount Diablo State Park. The Blackhawk Country Club also offers two championship golf courses, club houses, a fitness center and a sports complex.
