Indian single malt whiskies are gaining popularity among Indians, giving tough competition to their Scottish rivals. Sales of Indian malts in 2022 increased 2.4 times to 281,000 cases, while Scotch (single malt) sales rose 35% to 296,000 cases. With rising income levels, Indians are more willing to spend on alcohol, driving the demand for malt whiskies.
