Traffic accident kills 1, injures 11 in Afghanistan’s Laghman

Amid a nationwide increase in traffic accidents, officials in Afghanistan’s Laghman province have reported one fatality and 11 injuries resulting from an incident in the eastern province.

Habibullah Mubarez, the head of the traffic directorate of the Laghman province, said that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Surkhakan area of the Kabul-Jalalabad road.

According to the officials, the incident happened after colliding a car with a vehicle belonging to Taliban members, killing one person and injuring 11 others.

Among the injured, eight security forces of the Taliban and three civilians were included.

The injured people were taken to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.

One person died earlier on Sunday, and 11 others were injured in a traffic accident in Ghazni province.

The incident occurred due to the collision between two vehicles on the Ghazni-Bayan highways in the Qarabagh district of Ghazni province, leading to the loss of one person and leaving 11 others injured. 

Recently, there has been a surge in road accidents nationwide due to reckless driving, dilapidated roads, higher-speed drivers and less attention to traffic rules and regulations.
