Team Australia roster: Meet the Boomers, a serious sleeper to win the 2023 FIBA World Cup

The Australian men’s national basketball team has one of the strongest national teams among all competing in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Team USA (-125) is currently the favorite to win the tournament, per DraftKings. France (+900) has the next-best odds. Canada (+900) and Australia (+1000) are also projected frontrunners.

Led by head coach Brian Goorjian, Australia’s roster has more NBA players suiting up than any other national team except for the United States.

Australia made it to the semifinals of the 2020 Olympics, finishing with a bronze medal. The Boomers also made the semifinals during the FIBA World Cup in 2019 and made the semifinals of the 2016 Olympics.

Australia’s roster also included Houston Rockets big man Jock Landale, though he suffered an ankle injury and did not take the trip with the team for the competition.

They will officially begin the tournament against Lauri Markkanen and Finland on August 25. Here are the players expected to play for Australia:
