The tone-deaf President remarked “that’s some hot ground, man” as he viewed burnt-out cars.

The 80-year-old appeared to fall asleep during a meeting with survivors of the inferno.

Later during a speech Biden compared the wildfires to his experience of a kitchen fire.

The wildfires have killed at least 114 people and left 850 missing since August 8.

He then ignored Democrat senator Brian Schatz before turning his back and gormlessly shuffling off with the help of his wife.

Furious Hawaiians had already greeted the president with rage, shouting “f**k you” at his motorcade and brandishing signs telling him to go home.

Meanwhile, the White House announced that each affected household in Hawaii will receive $700 (£550) – a sum many residents considered insulting.
