I get mom-shamed for the way I dress my toddler and how often I bathe her – I think my methods should be normalized
A MOM has stood up against critics who mom-shame her for how she chooses to raise her children.
She said her methods are perfectly acceptable and should be normalized, not shamed.
Nat (@natsmith9598) explained she’s fed up with the negative comments on her parenting in a video shared with her TikTok followers.
Instead of being “mom-shamed” for how she chose to parent her toddlers, she believed that they should be seen in the public eye as standard practices.
The mom shared a photo of her sleeping toddler as she revealed that she had gotten mom-shamed for breastfeeding him to nurse her to sleep.
Critics also ragged on the mom for how frequently she chose to bathe her child, while the mom believed it to be a common-sense practice.
“Only bathing every other day or if she’s dirty,” she said, sharing a photo of her happy baby in a towel.
Some even took up fault with what the baby wore: “Dressing my daughter in ‘boys clothes,'” she said, unafraid to break gender stereotypes.
Other evidently controversial approaches to motherhood included Nat’s decisions to not limit her daughter’s screen time, regularly strapping her to her back in a carry-on backpack, and safe bed-sharing.
Moms and supporters alike took to the comments to share their encouraging words of support for the parent.
“I do all, and I don’t feel ashamed, because it’s my maternity, nobody has the right to judge, lots of love for you,” said one viewer.
“I’m with you, mama! Wish we could bedshare but he just pokes his eyes and sticks his fingers in my mouth,” said another.
One mom agreed there was simply no need for frequent baths and that Nat might even be overdoing it.
“We’re not even bathing every other day. We plan on twice a week, but honestly, even that doesn’t always happen,” she said.
