TWO of Ivan Toney’s former Northampton team-mates have been charged with gambling breaches after they allegedly shared betting tips with the England striker.

Dean Snedker and Lewis Wilson, who played with Toney and remain friends with the Brentford man, allegedly placed more than 1200 bets on matches.

Both are banned from betting on football as they remain active players.

Snedker is a keeper for non-league side Rushden & Diamonds, while midfielder Wilson turns out for Banbury Town.

According to The Mail, both men were charged with FA Rule E8 in May.

Snedker allegedly made 503 bets from June 2016 to June 2022.

Wilson, who has made one appearance for England‘s U19s, is accused of placing 745 bets between March 2017 and October 2022.

It is understood the charges surfaced as a result of the FA’s investigation into Toney – who was found guilty of breaching betting rules on 232 occasions.

Toney, 27, is banned from playing until January 16 and cannot train with the rest of his Brentford team-mates until September.

FA investigators reportedly found evidence of Snedker and Wilson’s alleged betting breaches through phone records which showed them discussing placing bets on football with Toney.

Snedker played with Toney for three seasons at Northampton between 2012 and 2015.

Wilson spent one year with Toney – who moved to Newcastle, before he went on to Peterborough and then Brentford.

Toney’s betting offences took place between February 2017 and January 2021.

Speaking about the breaches earlier this week, he said: “The whole football community is big on mental health and then the FA are going to do this and push me away.

“[But] it’s not a place I want people to feel sorry for me. That’s the last thing that I want.

“Not being allowed at the training ground is baffling to me. I’m counting down the days until I can be training and around the boys. It’s like being in football prison at the moment.”
