Cleaning enthusiast Chantel Mila took to social media to share her advice, as she posted a clip with the caption ‘Say goodbye to dust with these three easy tricks.’
She then revealed: “Three easy hacks to reduce dust around your home.”
Chantel’s first hack involves something you may already have in your home already – newspaper.
As we saw her putting sheets of paper on top of her kitchen cabinets, she explained: “Line tall shelving with newspaper to prevent dust build up.”
Next, she made her own DIY spray, which she then used to clean the surfaces in her home.
To this, she noted: “Make a dust repellent spray with water, white vinegar and lemon oil.
“This spray captures dust and prevents it [from] returning.”
Finally, once Chantel had put her washing in the machine, she then added her washing powder and a £2.50 supermarket buy, which she claimed will assist in getting rid of dust.
She advised: “Add eucalyptus oil to your laundry detergent to rid dust mites.”
If you haven’t got any eucalyptus oil in your cupboards, fear not, as you can pick up a bottle from Amazon and many supermarkets.
And don’t worry, it won’t break the bank, as you will find it for just £2.50 from Morrisons.
The TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @mama_mila_, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 149,100 views.
One person asked: “How does the newspaper prevent dust buildup?”
To this, Chantel confirmed: “The dust settles on the newspaper which you can switch out easily, instead of it sticking to your cabinetry.”
But Chantel isn’t the only one who swears by her newspaper hack – another cleaning whizz also raved about this quick and easy hack.
Cleaning-mad Jess also took to TikTok to share her idea, as she advised: “Line tall shelving with newspaper to collect dust and stop grease building up.”
Not only are such areas a pain to dust, but with this simple hack, you can line the spot with newspaper, leave it, and then recycle and replace it every so often, making it a relatively faff-free method.
