We were quoted £3,000 for a new laminate floor so decided to do it ourselves for 10% of that, using Homebase bargains
THEY were quoted £3,000 to do their floor.
And as that “wasn’t an option”, Freya and boyfriend Lewis decided they’d try and do it themselves.

Freya opened up about the process in videos on her TikTok page, as she revealed they’d used laminate tiles from Homebase for the transformation.
“Each pack was about £50 but at the moment they’ve got an offer on where if you buy one, you get one half price,” she said.
“And then they also do a 10% off if you’re a new customer as well.”
She went on to reveal that they had 25 square metres to cover between their kitchen, bathroom, hallway and cupboard – meaning they needed 11 packs.
And with the deal and the offer on, it worked out at around £337 for the lot.
Freya added that the Homebase website has a tool that allows you to put in your measurements and it will tell you how many packs you need.
People had mixed reactions to their work in the comments section of the TikTok video.
“I love this flooring from Homebase,” one wrote.
“I’m trying to convince my husband to do my hall and his office with it.”
“Looks absolutely beautiful,” another added.
“Looks amazing, I’ve just had Karndean flooring in herringbone which cost 6k,” a third sighed.
As someone else said: “You’ve done a good job. I’ve been quoted £14k to do our flooring!”
But others noticed some problems with Freya and Lewis’ installment of the tiles.
“Quoted 3k for actual hard wood flooring done properly to perfection… went cheap and put nasty laminate down poorly,” one person commented.
“Yeah well done.”
“C**p quality, looks like it as well,” another said.
“No offence but as a tradesman I can see some rather large gaps between the skirting and flooring which is the difference,” a third wrote.
To which Freya replied: “That’s why we are getting trim, we always knew that would be the case.”
