Holiday warning as crazed man seen storming Magaluf hotel with ‘gun’ leaving tourists terrified
THIS is the moment a crazed man stormed into a Magaluf hotel wielding a fake gun before threatening terrified tourists.
The bloke burst into the unnamed establishment in the party hotspot with the replica firearm last Thursday.
Police released images of the Spanish national after he was arrested following a huge manhunt.
Cops accused him of inciting “panic and tension” as he strolled into the hotel brandishing the fake gun – that guests believed was real.
He reportedly pointed it at horrified holidaymakers who were unfortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Detectives said that the gun was “very similar” to a real weapon, but was actually a replica Glock pistol.
It was also revealed that the suspect – who was described as a “well-known criminal” – had committed violent crimes before.
He had been held by police earlier this year after attempting to attack several people in the street with a large knife.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard said on Monday: “The Civil Guard has arrested a Spanish national for allegedly threatening other people with a replica firearm.
“On August 24 the suspect burst into a hotel complex in Magaluf armed with a pistol which he pointed at people creating a situation of panic and tension, before fleeing the scene.
“Officers launched an investigation to clarify what had happened and identify the suspect.
“It was discovered he had used the weapon discriminately and without any apparent motive, carrying out the action of loading the weapon and pointing it at people who he crossed paths with.
“After recovering and analysing the CCTV cameras, he was identified as a well-known criminal with a history of violent crimes who months earlier had been involved in a similar altercation in which he had tried to attack people on the street with a large bladed weapon.
“He was tracked down and arrested the day after the incident in Algaida in central Majorca and a replica Glock pistol which was very similar to a real weapon seized from him.”
It was not immediately clear today if he had already appeared in court and whether he had been remanded in custody or released on bail.
