The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tuesday 29th August) Amiri deal off
Amiri deal off
Leeds have admitted defeat in the pursuit of German International midfielder Nadiem Amiri. The 27yo had boarded a private plane (Monday morning), that the club had laid on for him, and given a guided tour of Elland Road before sitting down with club officials to discuss personal terms.
A fee had already been agreed with Bayer Leverkusen, so personal terms should have been a formality; yet he returned to Germany last night, having rejected Leeds advances. Amiri's days at Leverkusen look numbered. He remained benched at the weekend against Borussia Monchengladbach, an indication he is not part of Xabi Alonso's plans.
Leeds have been lacking that creative influence ever since Pablo Hernandez returned to Spain two years ago. Time is quickly running out, in their pursuit of a No 10, with just three days of the Summer transfer window remaining!
Palace to swoop for Sinisterra
Crystal Palace Fanzine site 'Thepalaceway' allege that Luis Sinisterra may be on his way to Selhurst Park, before the transfer window slams shut on Friday
They're claiming exclusivity for the scoop, insisting that Leeds are holding talks with their South London counterparts regarding a season long loan, with an option to buy!
Leeds would be absolutely crazy to let Sinisterra go. His performance on Saturday at Portman Road proved his worth, not only by scoring, but gifting Piroe an easy rebound after Hladky could only parry his (Sinisterra's) goal bound effort.
Terms agreed with Paintsil
Conflicting media reports regarding Genk forward Joseph Paintsil, are causing confusion between two of the Championship's top clubs. Both Leeds and Southampton have been tracking the versatile 25yo for several weeks, but according to the most recent article in Football Insider, Leeds would be the Ghanaian International's first choice, and they have already agreed personal terms with him.
Paintsil is prominently a left-sided winger but can play attacking midfielder. He scored 18 goals in 39 matches for Genk in all competitions last season. Although Leeds have lost the services of Jack Harrison, they certainly have more pressing areas to fill, other than a winger, especially on the left where Gnonto and Sinisterra operate.
Could either be leaving the club before Fridays deadline, allowing Paintsil to come in as a ready made replacement?
