I was in a huge noughties indie band – now I’ve quit fame for a very normal job
A TOP indie rocker has traded in fame for a very normal job.
Noughties Britpop star Benedict Gautrey, 42, was the frontman for The Cooper Temple Clause formed in 1998.
They released three albums which proved hugely popular with fans and tracks including Let’s Kill Music and Promises, Promises.
Ben was the lead singer and guitarist of the Berkshire-formed group which split in 2007, when member Daniel Fisher quit.
His exit came at a similar time to Ben being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, which sparked a complete change of career.
Talking of the band’s split, he told NME: “That’s when I knew I wanted to try something new, so I did a degree in occupational psychology at Goldsmiths College.
“Right now, I work for an organisation that mediates dialogue between employers and workers to improve their relationships.”
His LinkedIn page now states he is the managing director of the Great Place To Work consultancy.
The organisation helps employees to feel “trusted and valued.”
He added to the publication: “Looking back, I can see that some of the problems of being in a band like recognition and breakdown in communication seem to happen in all workplaces.
“My job’s about getting employees to become more engaged with their company, and when I do that I go home happy.”

Meanwhile, singer Kaci Battaglia – whose one track ‘Paradise’ gained her worldwide attention – has also traded in fame for a normal job.
She secured an engineering degree in 2016 having successfully completed two years of study.
Kaci then worked in jewellery sales in her native Florida before becoming a marketing analyst.
Describing her new skillset, she says on LinkedIn: “Persistent, motivated and results-oriented professional with entrepreneurial vision, strong scientific and technical aptitude and early career experience involving B2B sales, marketing and promotions within the highly competitive music industry.
“Experience reflects enthusiastic representation and an effective ability to establish strategic partnerships, navigate competitive tactics, identify development opportunities and close complex deals.”
Another pop queen also traded in the glitz and glam of celebrity life to become a midwife.
