I turned a van into my dream tiny home on wheels… here are my eight must-haves for the interior
A WOMAN who turned a van into a tiny home on wheels has revealed the eight things she couldn’t live without.
So-called “van life” is becoming increasingly popular as the cost of living continues to bite and many are taking to live on the open road.
Simone Stewart took to her TikTok page to show her 14,200 followers the things she considered vital.
The first thing she mentioned was a “sink with an extendable hose” she said it made cleaning “just so much easier”.
Next up, Simone considers having swivel seats another must have as they “ open up the cab space so much, especially when you have company with friends”.
Thirdly, Simone is seen pointing to a space underneath what looks like a fridge, and she says “putting a hole in this space ensures it’s not a dead space” and she added that she was currently putting wet things in there.
Simone also advised getting some bungee cords which she used for any rattles in the van that cropped up.
A favourite choice of hers was also having USB ports in the cupboard above the bed which could be used to charge phones or any other devices as well as for fairy lights.
She also advised on getting some non-slip mats which, for her, were “so important to stop plates rattling and anything else that might fall out of a cupboard.”
Next she recommend sorting out some storage space above the cab.
Simone revealed she used it for storing “random things” and it gives you much more room.
Last, but not least, she had a chair in her van which hides the toilet.
While she admitted “it wasn’t for everyone” she added that she “loves it”.
Simone said that while the compost toilet was hidden it was easily accessible and came with separate sections for wee and for poop.
The loo also comes with a carbon fan to get rid of any smells.
So far, the video has picked up some 204,000 views along with 8,711 likes and more than 50 comments.
Many commentators went online to commend her achievement.
One person said: “You have done a fantastic job.”
A second added: “Love it all but loo rocks.
While another wrote: “Cracking build well done.”
Another van life specialist who’s lived in a camper conversion for two years has revealed that life on the road costs far more than you think.
