Man arrested over homophobic stabbings outside Two Brewers pub
A man has been arrested in relation with the homophobic stabbing of two men outside the Two Brewers pub in Clapham last month.
The men were taken to hospital following the incident, but both were later discharged.
Police said a 19-year-old was arrested in South Norwood this afternoon, on suspicion of two counts of grievous bodily harm.
Detective Superintendent Vanessa Britton of the Met’s Central South Command Unit, said: ‘This arrest marks a significant development in our investigation.
‘The two victims have been informed and continue to be supported by our officers, including our dedicated LGBT+ Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
‘I know the concern and distress this horrific incident has caused among the LGBT+ community and I want to reassure them – and Londoners as a whole – that a team of officers is working diligently to investigate.’
The attack, which took place at around 10.15pm on August 13, was met with widespread condemnation from the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
Six days later, a pair of men were punched repeatedly by a stranger while waiting at a bus stop in Brixton, leaving one of them requiring stitches.
