I’m a savvy mum and swear by my lazy 50p garlic pasta for a quick family meal, it’s delicious
A SAVVY mum has become a viral sensation after sharing her simple and cheap recipes on social media.
Renu Bhardwaj, from Glasgow, works full-time for the University of the West of Scotland but has become a successful food blogger in her spare time.
The mum of two has amassed 131,000 dedicated followers on Instagram (@hey_renu) where she shares mouth-watering but budget-friendly meal creations – including £1 Tandoori roasties.
Her six-minute air fryer oat cookie recipe has been viewed an impressive 18.5million views.
And the 43-year-old relationship manager’s 50p garlic and chilli pasta is a huge hit with food fans.
The meal takes less than 10 minutes to make and uses just nine ingredients – including oil, salt and pepper.
Renu said: “For a quick lunch that hits the spot, it’s my version of the viral garlic noodles, this bangs and it’s really spicy.
“Inspired my by £1 chilli oil, but a little crisper.
“Make it a meal by adding any protein but it’s perfect this way.”
As the cost of living crisis sees families continue to feel the squeeze, the bargain recipe is a delicious way to cut down your shopping bill.
One social media user said: “No way? 50p???? I’m losing my mind.”
A second wrote: “This looks so tasty, cheap but delicious.”

Renu's 50p pasta recipe
Makes 2 easy portions!
Ingredients:
-2.5 tbsp olive oil (good quality )
-1 medium finely chopped onion
-2 garlic cloves minced
-Pasta of choice / 2 portions
-1.5 tbsp: chilli powder (I used a mix of chilli flakes and Aleppo pepper)
-Season with 1 tsp salt @blackthornsalt pepper, smoked paprika, parsley.
Method:
-Cook the pasta as per packet suggestion
Add oil to a pan and cook the onions for 3 minutes.
-Add garlic and cook until golden
-Add seasoning mix well until it bubbles, keep 2 tsp of crispy sauce for topping, then add some reserved pasta water to create a sauce.
-Add the pasta and toss and coat well.
-Add the crispy onion garlic crisp and enjoy
