Coronation Street signs radio legend’s son in major new villain role

CORONATION Street has signed up a radio legend’s son for a major new villain role.

The ITV soap has snapped up young Manchester actor Luca Toolan to play Mason Radcliffe, a new baddie on the cobbles.

Actor Luca is the son of radio DJ Mike Toolan – best known for hosting the Hits Radio show with former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson.

A source said: “Luca’s a great signing for Corrie.

“He’s involved in a huge storyline this year and will clash with some of the street’s biggest names.

“Mason is definitely going to ruffle feathers when he arrives in Weatherfield soon.”

A super proud Mike shared with friends:  “Luca has been unveiled as the new baddie (Mason) on Coronation Street. 

“Absolute dream come true for him. Liam McCheyne and all the amazing Corrie cast and crew have made him feel so at home. 

“Unbelievably proud of him.”

Luca added: “There’s a new kid joining the cobbles – Mason Radcliffe.

“It’s an honour to be a part of a show that I’ve grown up on that has some of the warmest and most talented people. 

“Thank you to everyone that supported me, you know who you are. Thanks God always. And my bigger smaller brothers Liam and Charlie.”

Luca is set to share scenes with other youngsters in the soap, most notable Liam, who plays Sean Tully’s son Dylan.

Liam said: “Meet Mason Radcliffe, played by the amazing Luca Toolan.

“Stay tuned to see the exciting things that are in store for Dylan and Mason. All yet to come.”
